From Mississippi and Hawaii to Egypt and the English countryside, the themed suites at The Anniversary Inn will have you feeling like you’ve entered a world entirely different from Salt Lake City. From the architecture of each suite to the murals on the walls, every detail has been painstakingly planned out.

Sleep under the canopy of a covered wagon in The Wild West suite, or climb high into your treehouse bed in the Swiss Family Robinson suite. In the Romeo and Juliet room, you’ll find yourself relaxing in a jetted bathtub surrounded by marble walls. The Presidential Suite provides a three-sided fireplace for unwinding after a long day.

The Anniversary Inn has three locations in Utah, two of which are in Salt Lake City. The hotel is often fully booked, so you’ll want to reserve in advance. As an adult-only hotel, it’s perfect for special occasions. Each reservation comes with a complimentary bottle of cider and daily breakfast.

The downtown location is minutes from historic Temple Square and the Utah State Capitol Building. The location on 5th South is just west of the University of Utah campus, near several restaurants and parks.

Just across the street from The Little America is its younger, fancier sister hotel. From the moment you step up to the large gold doors, complete with well-dressed doormen, you know that The Grand America is something special. The hotel opened in 2001 and, with 775 rooms, is the largest hotel in Salt Lake City.

Professional sports teams, visiting politicians, and business travelers often stay at the hotel thanks to its reputation for being elegant, comfortable, and conveniently located.  Rooms at The Grand America are slightly more expensive than The Little America, because they go just a bit further in the way of luxury.

Both hotels feature leather-topped desks, floor-to-ceiling windows, and English wool carpeting. At The Grand America, however, you’ll also find larger suites with walk-in closets and spa-style bathrooms as well as better views.

Just like The Little America, The Grand America features pools, a fitness center, and excellent restaurants. At The Grand Spa, you can relax while receiving a massage, facial, or other salon services.

In the 1930s, the Engen brothers, professional skiers from Norway, came to Utah and put down roots. The family built 5 log cabin-style homes at the base of Big Cottonwood Canyon. For many years, skiers staying in the area would use the cabins as a base camp after spending a day in the mountains.

In the 1980s, the five-acre property was converted into a bed and breakfast. After changing ownership a few times, the property is now known as Engen Hus Bed and Breakfast.

The ideal place to stay for skiers and snowboarders who need easy access to the resorts up Big Cottonwood Canyon, the lodge has five suites, each with a queen- or king-sized bed, private bath, TV, and wifi. Some include vaulted ceilings, balconies, skylights, and other grand features. The daily breakfast menu has something for everyone, from sweet to savory, meat-centric to vegan.

The grounds and shared spaces offer even more to enjoy. Guests can relax in the hot tub, chat around the patio fire pit, or pull out a board game from the community DVD and game closet. Drinks and snacks are available 24 hours a day in the dining room.

Up Big Cottonwood Canyon, there’s plenty of hiking, biking, and sightseeing to be done. In the opposite direction, visitors to the area can find shopping malls, dining, and entertainment options.
