Of the 36 beaches and coves in the city, Main Beach is Laguna Beach’s largest and most popular. Described by their tourism website as, “beautiful people having a beautiful time in a beautiful setting”, Main Beach is an idyllic spot for swimming, sunbathing, scuba diving, and more.

- Leashed dogs are allowed on the beach from mid-September to mid-June. From mid-June to mid-September, no dogs are allowed on the beach between 9 am and 6 pm.
- The city is a marine life refuge and bird sanctuary. Fishing is prohibited in all Laguna Beach waters
- Rip currents are not uncommon so take caution when swimming or engaging in any water activities

Fun Facts:
- Laguna Beach became nationally recognized in the mid-2000s when MTV produced a popular reality show, aptly named Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County, centering around a cast of students from Laguna Beach High School.
- The volleyball and basketball courts at Main Beach have been known to attract Olympian and pro-athlete visitors, most notably basketball legend Michael Jordan.

Main Beach is located in the heart of Laguna Beach, so you’re not far from any of the many activities the city has to offer: whale and dolphin cruises, wineries and wine tasting, hiking trails, guided tours, museums, galleries, restaurants, and bars. There’s a ton to do after you’ve had enough sun and sand for the day.
The Laguna Art Museum overlooks the northern end of Main Beach. Head there to see a wonderful collection of over 3,500 pieces of art created solely by California artists.
Heisler Park, an ecological reserve, is just north of Main Beach. There you can find tide pools and a scenic picnic area.
