When you think of the trips to the Florida Panhandle, Pensacola and Panama City Beach probably come to mind. However, the best camping near Tallahassee puts nature enthusiasts right in the middle of North Florida’s top hiking and camping spots.
With nearly 200,000 residents, it’s the largest city in Florida’s Panhandle. It also is the state capital. Just a short drive from any of these Tallahassee campgrounds is Edward Ball Wakulla Springs Park, home to the only natural spring in the Panhandle.
Tallahassee’s Top RV and Tent Campgrounds

Florida’s capital city makes a terrific base camp for exploring any of the Pandle’s notoriously awesome beaches. Enjoy the leisurely lifestyle on the beaches of the Gulf of Mexico. These campgrounds put you close enough to the water for an easy day trip, and night out on the town.
Both tents and travel trailers will find something suitable, and since Tallahassee experiences all four seasons, you’ll get cooler temperatures than in Southern Florida. Come in the fall for the autumn colors or wintertime to beat the heat.
