It is situated very close to town, but far enough away to still be surrounded by nature. Visitors can enjoy many hiking opportunities in addition to horseback riding. It is a very off-the-beaten-path kind of campsite, so you’ll want to come early, as spaces are limited and the area is very popular.

Gros Ventre Campground – GTNP (12 miles)

The Gros Ventre Campground is the closest Grand Teton National Park campsite to Jackson, Wyoming, and the largest site in the park. Fun fact: the name is French for ‘big belly.’ While there are hundreds of spots, this is a very popular campground for dry camping, as it is only open from April to October.

The campsites are all within walking distance to the Gros Ventre River and offer visitors some of the best sightings of different wildlife in the area. Cellular coverage will vary, but keep in mind that there is no internet connection at the campground. While the area itself is quite large, the sites are nestled between cottonwoods so that campers can enjoy the shade under these towering trees.

Located just south of downtown Jackson Hole, WY, lies the quaint Snake River Cabins & RV Village. A more upscale style of camping compared to other options in the area, the village allows for all types of camping opportunities, including luxury cabins. Visitors are welcome to the main lodge, where Wi-Fi and other amenities are provided.

Jenny Lake Campground (20 miles)

Jenny Lake Campground is a superb place to immerse oneself in the great outdoors. Located next to Jenny Lake, the most attractive place to visit in all of Grand Teton National Park, the campground is for tents and dry camping only. Jenny Lake has a variety of activities for visitors, such as boating and swimming, in addition to various hiking and cycling paths as well.

Campsites are surrounded by an open forest with lodgepole pine, subalpine, and Douglas fir trees. Beyond the trees, campers will find a mountain range landscape containing Cascade, Teewinot Mountains, and Mount St. John. Keep in mind that this popular campground is only open from April to October, and it is advised to plan far in advance.

Station Creek Campground is ideal for nature lovers who want to be one with the great outdoors. It is very cozy, tucked between the forest and the Snake River, making it a great place for a peaceful and relaxing weekend. There are endless amounts of scenic views, nearby hiking trails, and rafting opportunities along the Snake River itself. It’s advised to arrive early, as it is very popular.

While Station Creek Campground is only open from June-September, walk-ins are welcome through October, however, without the use of water or other amenities.

Signal Mountain Campground is the perfect home base for exploring the national parks in the area. It is conveniently located in Grand Teton National Park and within an hour’s drive of Yellowstone National Park and Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

Granite Creek Campground (33 miles)

Granite Creek Campground is a quaint and peaceful area that sits next to Granite Creek, with marvelous views of the mountain peaks of Bridger Teton National Forest. It is located near the Gros Ventre wilderness, which is perfect for wildflower season, beginning at the start of June and going until mid-August. Visitors can view many species of native flowers all over the area, as well as on the drive-in.

It is nearby the Hermitage Point Trailhead, making it a great home base for hiking excursions or day trips.
