The biggest draw to Vedauwoo (besides being larger than any nearby campsite in the Medicine Bow-Routt National Forest) is its proximity to the Vedauwoo Climbing Area. You’ll immediately notice the rock formations that distinguish this area when you pull into the campground.
The Vedauwoo area was once used as an outlaw hideout in the Old West and is steeped in American history. Predating the outlaws, Native tribes thought that playful spirits created the rock formations around Vedauwoo.
